Electric Rate Increase Public Hearing

PUBLIC NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS OF SUN PRAIRIE UTILITIES
Sun Prairie Utilities (applicant) has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to increase electric rates. The increase is necessary to reflect changes in operational and maintenance expenses, costs associated with maintaining the reliability of the electric distribution system, and capital improvements including the new operations facility at 510 Linnerud Drive. The last electric rate increase was approved in 2023.

The utility is requesting an overall increase above the electric utility’s present revenues of $1,787,178, or 5.40%. This request is detailed in the utility’s electric rate application submitted to the PSCW on December 11, 2024. After review, Commission staff proposed a revised increase in rates of $1,556,572, or 4.69%. The actual change to individual customers will vary with electricity usage, class of service and the ultimate rates authorized by the Commission. If the application is approved by the PSCW, per staff recommendation, the average residential customer using 592 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month will see a monthly increase of approximately $3.74, or 5.04%. The average single-phase general service customer using 1,601 kWh of electricity per month would see a monthly increase of approximately $9.05, or 4.95%.

A public hearing on the application has been scheduled for Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. This hearing has no physical location, however members of the public may join representatives of Sun Prairie Utilities at Sun Prairie Utilities, Training Room West – Room 124B, 510 Linnerud Drive, to participate.
