There are several renewable projects throughout the City. Our power provider, WPPI Energy, has the most visible project in town with two tracking arrays visible from Highway 151 along the north side of the highway and within the business park. Many residents have made an investment in solar panels to help offset their energy costs and carbon footprint.
The Sun Prairie Area School District is a big proponent of solar energy. The Sun Prairie High School was built with a rooftop solar array. The two newest elementary schools were built with solar projects at each school as well.
The city of Sun Prairie installed a rooftop solar array at City Hall as well as the Westside Community Services Building to become more sustainable and to help offset their energy consumption.
