Public Power Week

Each year, more than 2,000 community-owned utilities, like Sun Prairie Utilities (SPU), across the nation observe Public Power Week during the first full week of October.

Public Power Week is a celebration of not-for-profit electric utilities that proudly serve the electric power needs of about 40 million Americans - or almost 15 percent of electricity consumers.

Every public power system is different due to its community's population, geography, climate, natural resources, economy, and local government structure.

However, all public power systems have in common their purpose: to provide adequate, reliable, not-for-profit electricity at a reasonable price with proper protection of the environment.

Join us in celebrating Public Power Week, October 7-11, 2024

October 3 - October 31
SPU has partnered with Beans n Cream Coffeehouse to create a Public Power-themed drink! The new event is a great way to celebrate and encourage people to shop locally. SPU employees brainstormed and voted to find the winning drink name, and Beans n Cream Coffeehouse crafted an electric refreshment for you to taste.

Try the High Voltage Cold Brew at both Beans n Cream Coffeehouse locations in Sun Prairie - 345 Cannery Square and 1120 West Main Street.

The special drink will be available starting Thursday, Oct. 3, until the end of the month. Take a break and try this limited-time cold brew before it's gone!

Friday, Oct. 4
SPU sponsors a 7:00 p.m. football game between the Sun Prairie East Cardinals and the Waunakee Warriors at the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field. Click for event details.

The theme is PinkOut, so don't forget to wear pink and show your Sun Prairie pride!
