Use My Account to Compare Rate Options

Inside the My Account customer portal is a tool that could be used to help you decide if there is a better rate option available to you. Any SPU customers who have an AMI (Automated Metering Infrastructure) electric meter on their premise will have an option in My Account to compare available rate options for their service.

Residential is generally billed at a standard rate (RG1) which is currently $.0922 per kilowatt hour (kwh), 24 hours each and every day. An optional Nights and Weekends Smart Plan (RG2) is a Time -of -Day rate which has different charges for kwh depending on the time of day consumed. Energy is metered and tracked by the time of day consumed. There are two rate levels charged; on-peak or off-peak. On-peak rates prevail during the times of 8:00am - 8:00pm, Monday through Friday excluding holidays as listed in the tariffs. Off-peak rates prevail during all other non-peak times, basically between 8:00pm and 8:00am Monday through Friday, all Saturday and Sunday, and on the observed holidays of New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The current RG2 on-peak rate is $.1600 per kwh, and the current off-peak rate is $.0510 per kwh. At current rates, the general threshhold where RG2 becomes more economical than RG1 is when your monthly kwh usage is less than 38% of total kwh during the on-peak time period, and more than 62% total kwh usage during off-peak time periods.

Please utilize the Compare Available Rate Options tool on My Account to help decide if a change would be to your advantage. Changing from RG1 to RG2 does require a 12-month commitment and so you want to be sure the move will be to your advantage.
